UNE has a very good atmosphere of encouragement for studying and proper usage of different study techniques. Talking with several different university students you can start to delve into what possibly study technique for YOU. This is especially due to the fact that UNE is a very prominent medical based or science majors based at the school. This is the inside scoop on the best ways and best spots to study for your classes at UNE.
What are the key steps to ensure a good study session? Well, that depends on what you are studying, be it for a test, doing an assignment, or working with a group for something class, prep is a key.
Emma McPherson, a junior (class of 2026) nursing major, stated that she “I genuinely get a chai latte and I plan with friends about what we should focus on that day.” This is one of many ways to prepare for studying but many people feel that getting a drink to help calm them helps them focus on what they need to do.
Next, you gotta make sure you have the right spot! Whether that be on campus or off campus, finding your spot helps you better be in the mindset for your setting. The coffee shops and bookstores that you could go in and chill at, including Elements Coffee and Bookstore, are a great off campus option. Though there are plenty of on campus places to go. The study rooms in the library or even just sitting around on the first floor of the commons.
The next question is, do you study with a group or by yourself?!
Bella Parks, a sophomore Marine Science Major, and Shanae Varghese, a sophomore Nero-science Major, both study best with groups. They both say bouncing ideas and concepts of friends and teaching each other helps them better understand the material. They both have different areas where they prefer to study in general, Parks likes to be cozy in her bed whereas Shanae sits at the high tops in Commons.
